Shimmer like a Mermaid
Sequin nails are bang on trend this season – colored, iridescent, glittered. all add a super zinginess to your nails. They are a fabulous alternative to rhinestone nail designs, which can fall off at the most inopportune moment, and allow your creative streak to run free. And they’re so easy to do!
You’ll need:
- Polish in your favorite color/style – glitter, sparkle, clear, or chrome for ultimate bling
- Sequins
- Tray to keep sequins in (honestly, they get everywhere)
- Tweezers, white pen or toothpick
- Nail file
- Polish remover
- Base coat
- Top coat
Before you start, remove any existing polish with a decent remover, wipe the remover over your clean nails just to take of any remaining grease. Next follow these steps:
- Trim and file to prepare your nails
- Apply your base coat and cure
- Brush on the polish carefully, remembering to swipe across the tip several times
- Add any special effects – ombre, glitter or whatever takes your fancy
- Cure
- Apply your top coat
- Apply the sequins very gently while the top coat is still wet. Use a white pencil, toothpick or tweezers
- to place them carefully. Rows, curves, accent piece, of scattered, experiment with what works for you.
- Cure
- Carefully apply another top coat and cure

Where It Could Be Improved
The containers are quite small, but I still think it’s great value for money.

Ideal for unicorn nails, these are also fun for hair, makeup and even decorating your phone. I layered the circular sequins for a beautiful mermaid design which shimmered and flickered constantly.
Where It Could Be Improved
The larger designs were quite stiff, so needed holding in place with an orange stick while they set. But once set, they stayed in place perfectly.

All in separate little pots, these pretty sequins look awesome on nails, around eyes, or swiped across cheekbones. I had great fun with this set.
Where It Could Be Improved
These pots were so full that upon opening they spilled everywhere, and being slightly static, stuck to my clothes and hair! I looked ultra cool!
