What Are The Hottest Nail Art Fashion Trends in 2020?

The Hottest Nail Art Fashion in 2020
What’s trending?

Featuring big time on the catwalks this year, nail art goes from strength to strength, and with global nail art expos, people are finally recognizing it as an art form in itself. With the power to enhance any outfit, good nail art stands head and shoulders above a nicely made up face for drawing attention.

Getting ready for summer vacations, before fall draws in, encourages us to make the most of long sunny days under a clear azure sky. Open air parties, BBQs and fun times with friends give us every reason to show off our latest manicure.

The most popular manicures vary from state to state and city to city, but nail art enthusiasts across the country can all agree on one thing – bold and bolder are the new pastels for this year, and with stars of stage and screen catching our eye with the hottest shades, there are limitless ideas to pick from. Beyoncé, Solange and Brit babe Billie Piper are all rocking the pastels, so why not join them?

The primary nail colors – red, blue and yellow, are all trending at the minute, along with always favorited glitter metallics – gold, silver, and the stunningly unusual copper. These colors look awesome on their own or teamed with art designs, such as glitter ombre nails.

Manufacturers have really gone to town this year with the secondary and tertiary colors, producing some really unusual shades. Bold, vivacious aqua, romantic corals and lilacs vie with shimmering pearls and vibrant pinks.

Two very popular art polishes that both produce amazing effects that get everyone talking are magnetic, and color changing polishes. The former uses a magnetic wand to attract the tiny flecks of metal held in the polish, creating dots, lines, spirals and swirls – in fact, anything you can think of. One a top coat is applied, your design will look awesome. The color changing polishes react to your body temperature, dark when you are cool, and as you warm up, the color fades, creating an ombre effect from the cooler tip to the warmer nail bed. This continually changes until you remove the polish – I’m sorry, but you’ll have to take it off at some point.

Both magnetic and color changing polishes are quick to apply and require very little actual skill – although they look like the most talented manicurist has worked on them.

Another new art trend that’s up and coming is the use of tiny flowers and petals underneath a top coat. Apply a suitable background color, and whilst it’s still tacky, carefully place your decoration, using tweezers, and very gently press them down. Cure the polish thoroughly before applying several top coats, drying in between, and you’ll have super cute, girly nails.

With such a wealth of inspiration out there, thanks to Pinterest and Insta, this year, more than any other, it’s a case of anything goes. Use your imagination to its fullest, and never be afraid to experiment.
