Orange Nails Causes, Symptoms, Prevention, Remedies & Treatment. Restore Your Nail Health

The condition of our nails is a good indicator of our overall health and although nail changes are normal, they can often be quite concerning. If your toenails have suddenly turned a shade of orange, this will, quite rightly, make you feel a little uneasy, but in most cases, there will be a simple reason behind this. Orange toenails could simply be the result of using tanning solution or a hard-to-shift nail polish stain.

What Happens if your Nail Bed is Damaged?

In some cases, the discoloration you see could be a sign of injury or trauma to the nail. For example, if you have been working out in the gym, running or you may have dropped something on your nail to cause the color change. In other cases, orange toenails may be caused by an infection of the nail, in which case, you may want to seek advice from your doctor. Your GP will be able to recommend the right course of treatment for your nail issue.

How Do You Get Rid of Orange Nails?

If your orange nails are down to a fungal infection, you will need to get something to treat it, usually from the doctor, but it’s also possible to get something over the counter. If your nail is the result of an injury, a simple home remedy may be enough, or if it’s staining soak your nails in clean, warm water and use a clean toothbrush or nail brush to scrub away the stains. If the problem persists, and the stains won’t budge you may need to just give them time, repeating the routine every day until the stains disappear.

What Happens If You Leave Nail Polish on Too Long?

It’s important to take good care of your nails, including your use of nail art. If you use nail polish, don’t forget that that the pigment can soak into the nail and this can often cause it to discolor. That’s just half the story though; nails need to breathe and by leaving polish on indefinitely, it can eventually cause infections and other issues, so it’s important to make sure you remove your nail polish regularly. This natural nail polish is one of my favorites!
