Nail Art Goes 3D
Rhinestone nail art is bang on trend for this year, fun and so achievable for the home DIYer. Available in a vast range of colors, shapes and sizes, rhinestones are an affordable way to create glamorous diamond nails or simply to add a little sparkle to your next manicure.
Before you begin, make sure that everything you need is in front of you and that the rhinestones are lying right-side up. This will make them easier to pick up later.
- Apply your base coat and nail polish as normal
- After your polish has dried/cured, take a cuticle stick and dab a bit of base coat on it, then use the part of the stick with the base coat on it to pick up a rhinestone from the top
- Dab a little base coat on the flat back of the rhinestone.
- Place the rhinestone gently on your nail. Be Careful, though, you don’t want to dig the stone into the polish and risk messing it up.
- Repeat these steps until your design is complete.
- Once you’ve finished, put on several layers of top coat to really seal the stones onto the nail.

They are easy to pick up and place using the tweezers, or pens, and stick really well.
Where It Could Be Improved
The brush that’s included isn’t very high quality, but I found it wasn’t necessary anyway.

What Makes It Great
Zealer have designed a universally useful set of rhinestones – lightweight and beautiful enough for nail art, but robust enough for using on other items, such as stiletto heels or cell phones. With plenty of sizes, colors and shapes, stunning designs are easy to achieve, and I chose to create tiny flowers out of the smallest rhinestones. I loved them, which is just as well, because they stayed in place for over two weeks.
Where It Could Be Improved
The box these arrived in wasn’t very robust, so some of the different types had got mixed up together. It didn’t take long to sort out though.

The little round storage containers can be a bit hard to open.
